We wanted to stay in Selvadego, but were upgraded to Monaco which is on Grand Canal - no tea/coffee facilities in room which is annoying as room servce (like everywhere in Venice) very expensive but staff were attentive, chatty and pleasant. We preferred Selvadego for room size and privacy - also you can get out of there when the tide is high, which is a problem at Monaco - not till after 12.00 unless you have wellies! It is so convenient for the vaporetto - another plus. If you are going in the warmer weather, Selvadego is a better choice, although you have to walk to breakfast on the terrace of the Monaco - in winter, obviously it is better to stay in the main hotel, but if you are like us - just want a comfortable room to relax and a bit of space before getting out for the next sight-seeing trip, I would recommend the annexe - Selvadego.

Breakfast for those staying at the Palazzo Selvadego is the Monaco and Grand Canal Hotel. In the summer it is served on the terrace overlooking the Grand Canal - one of the nicest settings in Venice. This location is the perfect base. The hotel is close to the vaporetto hub at San Marco for making best use of your tourist travel pass.
Top Tip
This location is the perfect base for exploratory walks especially towards Accademia- The Campo San Stefano has a number of cafes and restaurants with umbrella/parasol shaded eating areas - great for people watching.
