The first room we were allocated room 106 was very very hot. We opened all the windows to try and get some air in but as they opened onto a brick wall it was difficult. They moved us (reluctantly) the next day to room 404 which was much better. The day staff were very polite, helpful but the night porter was quite odd. Didnt really want to help us with late night hot drinks etc

Two fantastic restaurants nearby "Rosa Rosa" and "a beccafico" which we would highly recommend. The latter was absolutely fantastic. Great fish and wine

this hotel has character and charm. It is tucked away in a quiet cul de sac 2 minutes from La Fenice. It is welcoming and relaxing, with an excellent level of service. The concierge [working on the evening of 16th October could not have been more helpful.{ we didn't catch his name]]He recommended the Beccaficco restaurant which was superb.

Had heard the hotel would be difficult to find but we found it with no problems (with the help of a street map). Perfectly suited to San Marco locality.

Sweet little hotel in a sweet little place. I have seen people note that you need a map to find it. But you need a map to find everything in Venice. The staff was hard-working and extremely accommodating. The beds were very very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The room (quite small) did not in any way match the romantic photos, with fancy ceilings, etc. And they keep the hotel quite hot. Still, my daughter and I enjoyed our stay. The breakfast buffet offered many good choices and was quite fresh.

Venice is preposterously expensive and one gets the impression the island would sink into a deep economic depression without tourists, which some Venetians barely tolerate. We hated the over-crowded and ugly vaporetto experience but enjoyed DaZorzi Restaurant and Galileo Restaurant. But at Galileo, make sure you specify you do not want bread, because they charged SEVEN EUROS!!! for three slices of hard bread, and a few bread sticks. Also, the vaporetto 24-hour passes are expensive and unnecessary, which we discovered too late. We had an ugly experience with a female vaporetto employee who tossed us off a local-stops boat because we had suitcases. My feeling was that, at 23 euros per pass, each, we could take any vaporetto we wanted. And she physically pushed my daughter, which left a bad taste for us about Venice, just as we were about to leave.

Very expensive to eat near San Marco, stick to Duosodero district. Sculptures of Horses in San Marco Museum are a must. View from academia bridge the best.

The excellent service, good facilities and friendly staff more than compensates for the location - a little off the beaten track and a good walk to nearest vaparetto. Best breakfast we've had in Venice!
Top Tip
Eating: Mascareta, Calle Lunga for excellent wine, food and ambience.
Also Mascaron on same street.
Osteria Al Bacareto, San Samuele - family run, good food and not expensive.

This is a very nice hotel and reasonably priced. Near San Marco and available to Water bus stops! This hotel is convenient and within walking distance. If you can reach FENICE Theatre you will find your way easily.
