very close to san marco's square, which was where we wanted to be. hotel exceeded all our expectations - room was huge, the breakfast room is elegant without being stiff and the staff look after your every need - breakfasts were absolutely fabulous. There are two lifts - the one they use for luggage is very slow, but walk up the first few stairs and use that lift -it's quick! we would definitely stay here again.
Top Tip
oh where to start there is so much to see and do - take the lift to the top of the campinile in piazza san marco for the most awe inspiring views - time it to coincide with the ringing of the bells and watch them toll for a double whammy!
We had a lovely dinner at leon bianco, campo s luca, san marco 4153 - very reasonably priced - prawn and shrimp pasta cost 15 euro and was excellent.
pack gum boots if you have - we were there for new year and waded knee high in water in piazza san marco - we bought boots for 20 and 25 euro per pair.
wander the streets and alleys and just take in all you see-you can walk the entire island easily.
we didn't do the trip to murano to watch the glass blower, but found a wonderful glassmaker who we watched make the 3 monkeys-hear no evil, see no evil and speak no evil-cost us 10 euros and it has a lot more meaning.
venice is superb - 3 days is just not enough time!

Location of hotel was excellent ,1min walk to San Marco Square. Our hotel room was spotless ,cleaned once a day and checked in the evening. Our bed was turned down and they even took the time to arrange our babys cot and teddy in a cute way at night too. The continental breakfest had loads to choose from. Staff and service were very friendly and professional.

Venice has so much to see and do and so many nooks to get lost in. You would need many trips to see it all. Just get up early and make the best of the day.Take a boat trip to Murano and Lido. Private taxis are to dear use the public transport. San Marco is magical at night with the music and people. Every thing is expensive in the high tourist spots. The further away you go the cheaper it gets. Dont go with a buget ( within reason of course), just save up and enjoy.

Buy bottled water, beer and cold drinks in local supermarkets, so much cheaper.
Very nice cafe in Musee Corer in San Marco Square. Museum ticket for all San Marco museums a good buy.
Would recommend Al'Angelo's, Bistrot de Venise and the restaurant in the square where the teatro de Fenice is (apologise for incorrect spellings, don't have guide book with me)

the hotel was in a great location. Only downside was no tea & coffee facilities in the room and the shower was a bit temperamental.
Top Tip
great location, take comfy shoes as lot of walking to be done. If taking a gondola ride, agree a price and route before setting of, otherwise can be expensive and short!!
